I don't know how many people actually read this blog anymore (or who actually read it to begin with!!), but I need a place to vent some feelings.
Jeremy and I have been married almost five years. We have done many of the things that we wanted to do: go on vacations, buy a home, got a dog--you know, the usual married things! But we are missing one thing:
A baby.
We have been trying for some time to get pregnant. At first, it was the thought that "If it happens, great. If not, well, it is fun trying!"
Then it got to: "We purchased a house; let's put our energy towards that."
Turned to: "I will chart, temp, plan to do the tango and see if that helps."
Now it is: "This sucks, what is going on? Why aren't we pregnant?"
So, about 3 weeks ago, I went to a new OBGYN. I told her my concerns and it was determined after some testing that I have PCOS--Polycystic ovary syndrome. This means that I don't ovulate every 28 days, like normal women. (Although, there aren't many women who acutally ovulate every 28 days.) I haven't had normal cycles since.....well, I have never had a normal cycle. So, my doctor has put me on Metformin. It is a medicine that will help with the sugars in my body. It has shown, with diet and exercise, to help lose some weight. I haven't got sick on it. I am happy to have some answers what is wrong with me. I am hoping that with the help of modern medicine, we will be able to get pregnant and bring home a sibling for Scooter!! :)
I want this to be a place that I can write my thoughts about this journey. I want to remember what I am going through for our future children. I know that not everyone agrees with help of medicine or doctors, but this is OUR journey and OUR choices. Please respect that. Thank you.
